Opening your eyes, you sigh and continue down the hall. "Whatever it was, Carl, it's gone now."

"Good. Just a few more apartments, and we can get the hell out of here." Carl flicks his cigarette into a corner and follows behind you.

You step aside to let Carl knock on the door, but he waves you back to it. "You take this one. I'm gonna let my mind wander."

You knock, and, when the door finally opens, you tip your hat and say "I'm sorry to bother you, sir. We got a few noise complaints from the building and wondered if you've heard anything?"

Sitting in the middle of the room, a large teddy bear smiles back at you.
